Fation comes out of an unusually credentialed place for a K-beauty label: Dong-A Pharmaceutical, one of South Korea's oldest drug companies, traced back to a 1932 pharmaceutical wholesaler in Seoul and best known domestically for the energy tonic Bacchus. That pharmaceutical lineage is the whole point of Fation, which markets itself as 'trouble care' skincare for sensitive, acne-prone, and compromised skin, framed as medical-grade rather than cosmetic indulgence. Its centerpiece is the Nosca9 line, which began with weak-acid cleansing products pitched at the mask-wearing era and has since grown into pore-care toners, serums, and creams; the Nosca9 Trouble Serum became a domestic bestseller and topped Korean retail rankings such as Olive Young. In 2025, Dong-A pushed Fation into the U.S. market, leading with the Nosca9 Deep Pore Cleanser. The brand's strength is the manufacturing and formulation backing of a 90-plus-year pharmaceutical parent; the honest caveat is that, like most dermo-cosmetic offshoots, its efficacy data tends to be brand-run testing and sales figures rather than independent clinical trials, and a verifiable founding year for the cosmetics line itself is not well documented in English sources.
