About

Skincare you can actually trust — matched to your skin.

The skincare industry has a transparency problem. Marketing budgets dwarf research spending, “dermatologist recommended” is often a paid line, and it is genuinely hard to tell whether a product works or simply went viral. DermApproved exists to cut through that — with evidence rather than advertising.

Honest assessment is only half the job. The other half is helping you find the right product for your skin, and knowing what to do when products aren’t the answer. So this isn’t only a review site — it’s a system for looking after your skin over time. Tell us about your skin once, and the whole site reshapes itself around it.

What this is

Four things most sites do separately, built to work as one — and all free.

Evidence-based reviews

Every product is analysed ingredient by ingredient against published research, scored on a transparent formula, and written up as a real editorial assessment — not a reworded press release. 11,656 products from 792 brands so far, growing every week.

Recommendations tuned to you

Set your skin type and concerns once and every review, list and tool adapts — flagging what fits your skin, what needs care, and what to avoid. Add what you already own to your Shelf and the site works around your real routine.

42 interactive tools

A routine finder, conflict checker, ingredient decoder, skin-cycling planner, the severity scores clinicians use, symptom diaries and more — free, instant, and no account required. More are in development.

A dermatology-grade magazine

522 deeply researched, fully cited articles and 312 ingredient references — the context behind the reviews, for when you want the "why" and not just the "which".

The fastest way to understand it is to see it working: take a test drive with six months of sample data already in place.

How we judge

Not every product earns the attention it gets. We apply friendly scepticism where it’s warranted — always assessing the formula on its merits, never punching down, and always giving credit where it’s earned.

  • Celebrity & influencer brands. The name on the label got you here; we focus on what’s inside the bottle, and flag when a price reflects fame rather than ingredients.
  • Hype-driven indies. Virality is not an ingredient. When a product’s main credential is “sold out three times”, we look for the substance behind the aesthetic — and say so clearly when it’s genuinely there.
  • Luxury pricing. A $90 moisturiser should earn its price in the formula, not the packaging. If the ingredient list reads like a $20 product in a heavier jar, we say so.
  • “Clean beauty” claims. Where a brand markets on fear, we address it factually. We never mock people who care about clean products — we help tell meaningful apart from marketing.

What we don’t do

No paid placements

No brand can pay to be listed, featured, or ranked higher. Every product enters the same pipeline against the same criteria.

No sponsored reviews

We don’t take free products in exchange for coverage, and we don’t soften an assessment for a partnership. The score is the score.

No marketing language

“Revolutionary”, “breakthrough”, “miracle” — you won’t find those here. We describe what ingredients do, with evidence levels and mechanisms.

No selling your data

Your profile, shelf and diaries save on your device, and back up to your free account only if you choose to create one. They are never sold, shared, or used to target you.

No hidden conflicts

Where we use affiliate links, they are disclosed and they never influence a score, a grade, or a ranking.
