Sidmool Skin Source Liposome BioTOX Overnight Mask 40 ml white tube with navy band
Good choice for Dehydration
What Makes This Different

It is one of very few sleeping masks anywhere that lists three recombinant human growth factors, a recombinant botulinum-derived peptide at a declared parts-per-million dose and hydrolyzed collagen, in a fragrance-free water-gel that costs under twenty dollars. Whether that ingredient list does more than an ordinary hyaluronic sleeping pack is unproven, but nothing else at this price attempts it, and Sidmool tells you exactly how much of each it used.

Growth-Factor Sleeping Mask, Modest Price
mask sleeping-mask k beauty Paraben Free Not Cruelty Free

A pleasant, fragrance-free hyaluronic sleeping gel that plumps skin overnight and costs under twenty dollars, wrapped in a story about a botulinum-mimetic peptide and three growth factors that no independent study supports. Buy it as a gentle hydrating mask with an intriguing ingredient list, not as Botox in a tube, and it is fair value.

This mask has sold for about a year and only through Sidmool's Korean site and cross-border shops, so the experience notes rest on a few dozen mostly Korean reviews and on Sidmool's declared concentrations. The brand's only published data is an irritation-panel score; there is no efficacy study of the mask, and the botulinum-mimetic peptide and growth factors have no independent clinical evidence in a leave-on cosmetic on intact skin.

Full Review

Sidmool prints '0.01 ppm' next to the botulinum-derived peptide on this tube, which is either admirable transparency or an accidental confession, and it is worth working out which. The Skin Source Liposome BioTOX Overnight Mask is the affordable spin-off of Sidmool's BioTOX ampoule, a small, expensive Korean cult product built around sr-(Oligopeptide-91 Clostridium Botulinum Polypeptide-1), a recombinant peptide fragment modelled on a botulinum toxin protein and sold with the promise of relaxing expression lines the way an injection does. The ampoule carries the complex at 10 ppm. The mask uses a tenth of one percent of that complex, which works out to the 0.01 ppm on the label: one hundredth of a milligram in a litre of gel. Sidmool tells you this because Sidmool tells you everything; the brand grew out of a Korean DIY-cosmetics community in 2000 and never lost the habit of putting the number on the front. The number, in this case, is a very small one, and the honest review of this mask begins by noticing that.

Start with what the peptide could plausibly do. Botulinum toxin works by being injected into muscle, where it blocks the release of acetylcholine at the nerve ending and stops the muscle contracting. A cosmetic peptide fragment applied to the surface of the skin would have to cross the stratum corneum, the epidermis and the dermis and reach the neuromuscular junction in a dose large enough to matter. There is no published evidence that any topical botulinum-derived peptide does this, and there is good reason from basic skin biology to doubt that a protein fragment at parts-per-million concentration in a water gel could. 'BioTOX' is a Korean cosmetic category, a hopeful naming convention for a class of peptides that sound like the injectable and are regulated as cosmetics precisely because they do not act like it. Sidmool's liposome encapsulation is a sensible answer to the penetration problem in principle, but the brand has published no data showing its vesicles deliver anything to anywhere.

The growth factors are the more interesting inclusion and the more common one for this brand. rh-Oligopeptide-1, rh-Polypeptide-11 and rh-Oligopeptide-2, the INCI names for recombinant human epidermal, fibroblast and insulin-like growth factors, sit seventh through ninth in the list, which for proteins normally dosed in parts per million is a high placement and suggests Sidmool did not skimp. Growth factors have genuine dermatological pedigree in wound healing and post-procedure recovery, where the barrier is open and the proteins can reach the cells that respond to them. On intact, healthy skin the evidence is far thinner: a handful of small, mostly industry-funded studies of growth-factor cosmetics report modest texture improvements over months, with the penetration question never satisfactorily answered. In a leave-on mask with eight hours of contact the conditions are as favourable as a cosmetic can offer. Whether that is favourable enough is unknown.

Now the part of the formula that is doing the work you can see. Hyaluronic acid sits sixth, ahead of the peptides, and it is surrounded by glycerin, glycereth-26, sorbitol and, lower down, a fructose-trehalose-sucrose-glucose sugar complex plus hydrolyzed collagen, which is a humectant with a protein name. This is a serious water-binding stack, and it is why skin looks plumper, dewier and smoother in the morning every time you use the mask. Panthenol appears three ways, as panthenol, pantothenic acid and pantolactone, with beta-glucan, allantoin and dipotassium glycyrrhizate rounding out a soothing roster that explains the 0.00 percent irritation score Sidmool advertises. There is no fragrance, no alcohol, no silicone and no oil beyond a little caprylic/capric triglyceride to stabilise the liposomes.

In use, the mask is genuinely nice. It is a clear, cool water-gel that spreads thin, sits tacky for a minute or two while the sugars set, and then forms a soft, breathable film that does not end up on the pillow. Skin in the morning looks rested and hydrated, fine dehydration lines look softer, and after rinsing with lukewarm water as directed the surface is smooth and ready for sunscreen. That morning effect is real, repeatable and worth having; it is also exactly what a well-made hyaluronic sleeping pack does, and it would be the same with the peptides removed. Reviewers on Sidmool's site describe plump, glowing skin and comfort; the ones looking for their frown lines to soften are quieter.

On price the mask is fair for what it verifiably is. Seventeen dollars for 40 millilitres through a cross-border shop, or a one-plus-one pair for about twelve dollars on Sidmool's own site, buys a fragrance-free, growth-factor-listed sleeping gel that lasts about three months at the recommended two or three nights a week. Comparable hydrating sleeping masks from mainstream K-beauty brands cost the same without the peptides. The import adds shipping and a wait of one to three weeks, and the Korean-only label reads 'Skin Source Liposome BioTOX Sleep Pack'.

Sidmool has twenty-five years of Korean word-of-mouth, a habit of radical ingredient disclosure and no clinical trials, and this mask reflects all three. The disclosure is the reason it can be assessed honestly at all, and the assessment is this: a good, gentle, inexpensive humectant mask with an unproven anti-wrinkle story attached. If the BioTOX peptide ever gets a trial, Sidmool has at least told you how much you were using. Until then, buy it for the morning glow, enjoy the growth factors as an interesting bonus, and keep your expectations, like the peptide, in parts per million.

IngredientFunctionEvidence
BioTOX Peptide (sr-Oligopeptide-91 Clostridium Botulinum Polypeptide-1), 0.01 ppm (0.01 ppm) The 'BioTOX' of the name: a recombinant fragment modelled on a botulinum-toxin polypeptide, sold as a liposome-wrapped complex and present here at a declared 0.01 parts per million, which is one hundredth of a milligram per litre. Sidmool's pitch is that it relaxes expression lines the way injected toxin does; the honest reading is that it is a trace, unproven cosmetic peptide whose muscle-relaxing effect through intact skin has never been demonstrated. Limited for Aging
rh-Oligopeptide-1, rh-Polypeptide-11, rh-Oligopeptide-2 (EGF, FGF, IGF) Three recombinant human growth factors, epidermal, fibroblast and insulin-like, placed seventh to ninth in the list, which is high for proteins usually present in parts per million. They are Sidmool's signature ingredients and the reason the brand prices this mask as a 'premium home care' product; in an overnight leave-on they have hours of contact, but whether proteins this size cross intact skin remains the open question. Limited for Aging
Hyaluronic Acid with Hydrolyzed Collagen and a Sugar Complex Sixth in the list and the ingredient doing the visible overnight work: hyaluronic acid, backed by sorbitol, glycerin, glycereth-26 and a fructose-trehalose-sucrose-glucose sugar complex, pulls water into the surface so skin looks plumper and lines look softer by morning. This humectant stack, not the peptides, is what users are feeling. Established mechanism for Dehydration · established mechanism
Panthenol, Pantothenic Acid and Pantolactone A triple dose of the vitamin B5 family, calming and barrier-supporting through the night and part of why Sidmool can print a 0.00 percent irritation-panel score on the box. It also offsets the drying pull that a sugar-heavy humectant gel can have in low humidity. Established mechanism for Dehydration · established mechanism
Hydrogenated Lecithin (liposome carrier) The phospholipid that forms the liposomes wrapping the BioTOX peptide, listed directly after it. Encapsulation is the formula's central technical claim and a rational answer to the poor skin penetration of large peptides, though Sidmool has published no data showing its vesicles deliver more than the free peptide would. Layering Tips

Apply as the very last step at night, over serum and moisturizer, in a thin layer that sets to a light film; rinse with lukewarm water in the morning as Sidmool directs. It is water-based and unlikely to disturb a retinoid underneath, and two or three nights a week is the intended rhythm rather than nightly.

Results Timeline

Skin looks plumper, dewier and slightly smoother the next morning from the humectant stack, and that effect repeats each time you use it. Any change to expression lines from the BioTOX peptide or the growth factors would be a matter of months and is not established; Sidmool suggests judging the firming effect after four to eight weeks of use two to three times weekly.

Science & Expert Perspective

The Science

The measurable action of this mask comes from its humectant architecture. Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, glycereth-26, sorbitol, hydrolyzed collagen and a fructose-trehalose-sucrose-glucose complex bind water in the stratum corneum, and the carbomer-xanthan gel that carries them sets into a light film that slows overnight evaporation, which together produce the increase in surface hydration and the softening of fine dehydration lines users observe by morning. Panthenol and its relatives pantothenic acid and pantolactone, alongside beta-glucan, allantoin and dipotassium glycyrrhizate, are well-documented soothing humectants that explain the formula's very low irritation potential. None of this is controversial, and none of it depends on the headline ingredients.

Those headline ingredients are where the evidence thins. sr-(Oligopeptide-91 Clostridium Botulinum Polypeptide-1) is a recombinant peptide derived from a botulinum toxin protein sequence and marketed in Korean cosmetics as a 'biotox' ingredient; it belongs to a class of topical neuropeptide-mimetics, alongside acetyl hexapeptide-8, that are claimed to reduce expression lines by interfering with acetylcholine release. Botulinum toxin's clinical effect depends on intramuscular injection; no peer-reviewed clinical trial demonstrates that a topically applied botulinum-derived peptide fragment penetrates to the neuromuscular junction or reduces dynamic wrinkles, and at the declared 0.01 ppm the dose is orders of magnitude below anything tested even in vitro. The three recombinant growth factors, rh-Oligopeptide-1 (EGF), rh-Polypeptide-11 (bFGF) and rh-Oligopeptide-2 (IGF-1), have a stronger biological rationale, since these proteins regulate keratinocyte and fibroblast proliferation and matrix synthesis, and topical EGF has clinical support in wound healing and post-laser recovery where the barrier is disrupted. In intact skin, molecules of their size (roughly 6 to 18 kDa) are generally considered too large for meaningful passive penetration, and the small cosmetic studies reporting texture benefits are mostly manufacturer-funded and uncontrolled for the humectant vehicles involved. Liposomal encapsulation via hydrogenated lecithin is a legitimate strategy for improving delivery of hydrophilic peptides, but Sidmool has published no penetration or efficacy data for this formula. No study references are cited because no peer-reviewed trial of this mask, its BioTOX peptide, or topical growth factors in a comparable leave-on cosmetic could be verified this session; the firming and anti-wrinkle claims should be regarded as unsubstantiated, and the hydration benefit as reliable.

Dermatologist Perspective

Overnight hydrating masks are a low-risk category, and this one's fragrance-free, alcohol-free, soother-heavy formula would raise no tolerability concerns in clinic for most skin types. The counselling point is about expectations. Topical 'botulinum-like' peptides are a recurring source of patient questions, and the consistent clinical answer is that no topical product reproduces the effect of injected neurotoxin, because the mechanism requires the toxin to reach muscle; a peptide fragment at parts-per-million concentration in a gel does not. Growth-factor cosmetics occupy a grey zone: there is real evidence for EGF in wound and post-procedure healing, and only weak, industry-generated evidence for cosmetic anti-ageing on intact skin, so clinicians tend to describe them as plausible but unproven and to caution that anyone with a history of skin cancer or active lesions should avoid growth-factor products as a precaution. For a patient wanting an inexpensive, gentle overnight hydrator with no irritants, this mask is a reasonable pick; for a patient seeking wrinkle reduction, the evidence-based topical remains a retinoid, and the evidence-based route for dynamic lines remains injection.

Guidance

Usage & Recommendations

How to Use

Use it as the final step of your evening routine, two or three nights a week. After cleansing, toner, any treatment serum and your usual moisturizer, squeeze out a small amount, about the size of a large pea for the whole face, and spread a thin, even layer over the face and neck, avoiding the immediate eye area. Let it set for a minute or two before lying down; it becomes a soft film that will not transfer. Leave it on overnight. In the morning rinse the residual film away with lukewarm water, then continue with your daytime routine and sunscreen. A thicker layer does not improve results and increases tackiness. Store the tube away from heat and use within six months of opening, since the peptides and growth factors are not indefinitely stable.

Value Assessment

Seventeen dollars for 40 millilitres through a cross-border retailer, or roughly twelve dollars a tube when bought as Sidmool's one-plus-one pair, is a low price for a sleeping mask that lists three recombinant growth factors and a declared peptide dose, and it lasts about three months at the recommended two or three nights a week. Judged as a hydrating sleeping pack, which is what it verifiably is, the value is fair rather than exceptional: mainstream K-beauty sleeping masks deliver similar overnight plumping at a similar price without the import wait. Judged as a growth-factor treatment, it is remarkably cheap, but that framing rests on benefits no independent study has shown. Shipping adds five to fifteen dollars and one to three weeks, and there is no US retailer. Buy it if the ingredient list interests you and the price of curiosity is acceptable; do not buy it expecting an alternative to injectables.

Who Should Buy

People who want a gentle, fragrance-free overnight hydrating mask that leaves skin plump and dewy by morning, K-beauty enthusiasts curious about growth-factor and 'biotox' peptide formulas who appreciate that Sidmool discloses its doses, and dehydrated or dull skin of any type that tolerates leave-on gels. It suits anyone already using Sidmool's Skin Source ampoules who wants a matching night step.

Who Should Skip

Anyone expecting a topical substitute for injectable wrinkle treatment or measurable firming, since neither the botulinum-mimetic peptide nor the growth factors have independent evidence on intact skin. People with a history of skin cancer or active skin lesions are usually advised to avoid growth-factor cosmetics as a precaution, strict fungal-acne avoiders should note the triglyceride, and shoppers unwilling to import from Korea have no domestic source.

Background

The Story Behind This Product

Skin Source is Sidmool's premium line of growth-factor and peptide ampoules, and 'BioTOX' is the brand's name for a liposome-encapsulated botulinum-mimetic peptide it sells at 10 ppm in a small, expensive ampoule. The 2025 overnight mask is the accessible spin-off: the same complex at a tenth of one percent, folded into a hydrating sleeping pack so that the customers who found the ampoule too costly could try the idea for the price of a face mask.

About Sidmool Established Brand (5–20 years)

Sidmool is a Korean independent founded in 2000 out of a DIY skincare community, known for publishing the exact concentration of its actives and for selling growth-factor and peptide formulas at unusually low prices. It runs in-house irritation panels but publishes no efficacy trials, so its claims rest on ingredient disclosure and a loyal domestic following rather than clinical evidence.

Myth vs. Reality

Common Myths

Myth

A 'biotox' peptide mask works like Botox while you sleep.

Reality

Botulinum toxin works because it is injected into muscle, where it blocks nerve signals. A recombinant peptide fragment at 0.01 ppm in a leave-on gel has no demonstrated route to the muscle and no published trial showing it relaxes expression lines. Any smoothing you see is hydration.

Myth

Growth factors like EGF in a mask rebuild collagen overnight.

Reality

Recombinant growth factors are large proteins, and evidence that they cross intact stratum corneum in meaningful amounts is thin; the clinical studies that exist used wound-care or post-procedure settings where the barrier was open. In healthy skin their contribution is uncertain, and no overnight effect on collagen is possible.

Myth

Rinsing a sleeping mask off in the morning wastes the actives.

Reality

The humectants and any peptides have had the whole night; what remains at dawn is mostly the film-forming gel, which can pill under sunscreen if left. Sidmool's rinse instruction is about texture, not about losing benefit.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 'BioTOX' in the Sidmool Skin Source Liposome BioTOX Overnight Mask?

It is Sidmool's name for sr-(Oligopeptide-91 Clostridium Botulinum Polypeptide-1), a recombinant peptide fragment modelled on a botulinum-toxin protein and wrapped in liposomes. The mask declares it at 0.01 ppm, a tenth of one percent of the 10 ppm complex used in Sidmool's BioTOX ampoule. It is a cosmetic peptide, not botulinum toxin, and it cannot paralyse muscle.

Does the Sidmool BioTOX Overnight Mask reduce wrinkles?

It visibly plumps and softens fine dehydration lines by morning, thanks to hyaluronic acid, sorbitol and a sugar humectant complex, and that effect repeats each use. There is no published evidence that its botulinum-mimetic peptide or growth factors reduce expression wrinkles through intact skin, so treat firming claims as hopeful rather than shown.

How often should I use the Sidmool Liposome BioTOX Overnight Mask?

Sidmool directs two to three nights a week as the last step of the evening routine, leaving it on overnight and rinsing with lukewarm water in the morning. Nightly use is harmless given the fragrance-free formula, but it doubles the cost for no established extra benefit.

Is the Sidmool BioTOX Overnight Mask safe for sensitive skin?

It is about as gentle as a leave-on product gets: no fragrance, alcohol, essential oils or exfoliants, with panthenol, allantoin, beta-glucan and licorice-derived soothers, and Sidmool reports a 0.00 percent score on its irritation panel. The growth factors are the only unusual element, and they are not known irritants.

Is the Sidmool BioTOX sleeping mask fungal acne safe?

Mostly, with one caveat: it is water-based with no plant oils or fatty alcohols, but it contains caprylic/capric triglyceride and hydrogenated lecithin, which some Malassezia-prone users avoid. Very sensitive fungal-acne sufferers should patch test on the jawline first.

Where can I buy the Sidmool BioTOX Overnight Mask outside Korea?

It is sold on Sidmool's Korean website, usually as a one-plus-one pair, and through cross-border shops such as Beauty Box Korea at around seventeen to twenty-four dollars per tube plus shipping. No US retailer stocks it, and delivery typically takes one to three weeks.
