Eunyul Real Hydrating Cream 500 g grey and white tub
Good choice for Dehydration
What Makes This Different

It stacks five hyaluronic acid forms with polyglutamic acid, betaine, a vitamin C salt and nine free amino acids in a light gel-cream, then packs it into a half-kilo tub. Few humectant creams at this depth come in such a large, face-and-body format.

Eunyul Real Hydrating Cream Review

Mega-Tub Hydration Gel
moisturizer gel-cream k beauty Paraben Free Not Cruelty Free

A generously formulated humectant gel-cream in a half-kilo tub: glycerin, five hyaluronic acid forms, polyglutamic acid, betaine and nine amino acids leave skin bouncy and dewy without weight. It is a practical face-and-body cream for normal, combination and oily skin. Added fragrance and a little alcohol rule it out for sensitive skin, and very dry skin will want something richer.

Review

Full Review

The first thing anyone notices about this cream is the tub. Five hundred grams is roughly ten times the size of a standard face cream, and it sits on a bathroom shelf more like a body butter than a facial moisturizer. Eunyul calls it a multi-purpose, mega-size cream, and that phrase is the key to understanding it. This is not a precious product to dab on with a fingertip; it is designed to be scooped, shared and used on the face, neck, arms and legs by whoever happens to be in the bathroom. The question is whether a formula meant for that kind of use can still be a good face cream.

On paper, it can. The ingredient list is richer in humectants than many smaller, pricier creams. Glycerin sits second, followed by dipropylene glycol, glycereth-26 and betaine, a strong water-binding base. Then come five forms of hyaluronic acid: sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid itself. Marketing likes to count hyaluronic acids, and five is a lot, but the more meaningful point is the range of forms. Larger molecules form a water-holding film on the surface, smaller fragments sit a little deeper in the outer skin layers, and the crosspolymer acts almost like a gel bead that releases moisture slowly.

Polyglutamic acid adds another film-forming humectant, and a run of nine free amino acids, together with betaine, echoes the skin's own natural moisturizing factor. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a stable vitamin C salt, and dipotassium glycyrrhizate, the licorice-derived soother, make small appearances. Guaiazulene, the blue compound originally derived from chamomile, sits surprisingly high in the list and gives the gel a faint blue-grey tint. Its soothing reputation is more traditional than proven, but it is a gentle addition.

What the formula lacks is much in the way of emollients or occlusives. Caprylic/capric triglyceride and a little ethylhexyl palmitate provide some slip, but there are no ceramides, butters or heavier oils. That is by design: the cream is meant to feel light enough to use in summer and on the body without greasiness. It also defines who will love it. Normal, combination and oily skin will find it a satisfying, bouncy moisturizer that sinks in within seconds and leaves a dewy finish. Dehydrated skin that feels tight but gets oily will be especially happy. Genuinely dry skin, particularly in winter, will find that the hydration fades over the day unless something richer goes on top.

In use, the texture is the highlight. It is a soft gel-cream that feels cool and almost watery as it spreads, then settles to a smooth, non-sticky finish. It layers well under sunscreen and makeup, and on the body it absorbs fast enough to dress immediately. Applied more thickly at night, it can serve as a simple overnight hydrating mask.

The drawbacks are the usual ones for a budget Korean cream. Fragrance is listed at the end, and a small amount of alcohol appears mid-list. Neither is likely to bother most people, but both are unnecessary irritants for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. The open-tub format is the other compromise. A half-kilo jar will be opened hundreds of times, and fingers are the easiest way to introduce bacteria. The preservative system of hydroxyacetophenone, 1,2-hexanediol and ethylhexylglycerin is adequate for normal use, but a clean spatula is a sensible habit, and the tub should be finished within about a year of opening. Some ingredients in the formula, such as the triglycerides, esters and polysorbate, also make it an uncertain choice for fungal-acne-prone skin.

It is also worth thinking about how this cream fits a routine. Because it is almost all humectant, it works best as the hydration layer rather than the final seal for dry skin: apply it to damp skin, let it settle, and in winter add a thin layer of a richer balm or cream on the driest areas. For oily skin, it can simply be the last step before sunscreen. That flexibility is useful in a household where different people have different skin, and it is part of the reason a big shared tub makes sense. Pricing is hard to pin down. We found the 500 g tub listed at very different prices across export retailers, and none we could treat as a stable US price. At the lower end of that range, it is exceptional value per gram for a humectant cream this well stocked; at the higher end, it becomes a convenience purchase for families rather than a bargain.

Eunyul is an established budget brand known for large formats, and this cream is a good example of what that approach does well. It gives up precision and luxury packaging in exchange for volume and versatility, while still putting a thoughtful humectant formula inside. For a shared bathroom, a gym bag or anyone who likes to use the same light moisturizer on face and body, it is a very practical buy. For sensitive skin, very dry skin or anyone who dislikes jars, there are better-suited options, but for everyone else, this tub is likely to last a long time and do its job reliably.

One last suggestion: because the tub is so large, it is worth decanting a small amount into a travel jar for daily face use and keeping the big tub closed in a cool, dark cupboard. That keeps the bulk of the cream fresher, cuts down on contamination risk and makes the product more pleasant to use over the months it will take to finish.

Scoop it with a clean spatula and apply over damp skin as the last hydrating step; it doubles as a body moisturizer and, in a thick layer, as an overnight mask.

Results Timeline

Immediate: a cool, bouncy, dewy finish that absorbs quickly. Within one to two weeks, dehydrated skin tends to feel less tight through the day. Very dry skin may still need a richer occlusive layer on top.

Science & Expert Perspective

The Science

This cream relies almost entirely on humectants, with a light emollient component.

Glycerin is the most extensively studied humectant in dermatology, improving stratum corneum hydration and supporting barrier recovery. Dipropylene glycol and glycereth-26 add further water-binding capacity with a lighter feel, and betaine acts as an osmolyte that helps cells hold water.

The five hyaluronic acid forms differ in molecular size and structure. High-molecular-weight sodium hyaluronate forms a viscoelastic film that reduces evaporation, hydrolyzed fragments are small enough to sit within the upper stratum corneum, and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer is a cross-linked network that swells with water and releases it gradually. Polyglutamic acid, a fermentation-derived polypeptide, is also a film-forming humectant and has shown water-retention effects in laboratory and small clinical studies.

The nine free amino acids and betaine resemble components of natural moisturizing factor, the water-binding mixture inside corneocytes; topically applied amino acids can help replenish it, especially in dry conditions.

Guaiazulene is a hydrocarbon related to chamazulene from chamomile, used for its colour and a mild soothing reputation; clinical evidence is limited. Dipotassium glycyrrhizate has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity in laboratory models. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate is a stable vitamin C derivative, present here at a level more consistent with antioxidant support than brightening.

Humectant-dominant moisturizers improve hydration quickly but are less effective at limiting water loss than formulas with significant occlusives. That explains why this cream suits oily and combination skin well but may need an occlusive layer on very dry skin in low humidity.

Dermatologist Perspective

In clinical practice, lightweight humectant moisturizers are commonly suggested for oily, combination and acne-prone patients who find heavier creams uncomfortable, and for dehydrated skin that is not truly dry. The combination of glycerin with multiple hyaluronic acids and amino acids is a sound approach for that group. Clinicians would advise patients with eczema or very dry skin to choose a formula with more occlusive and barrier lipids, and would note that fragrance and alcohol are unnecessary for sensitive skin. For large jar products, hygienic handling with a spatula is routinely recommended.

Guidance

Usage & Recommendations

How to Use

Use a clean spatula to take a small scoop — about a pea-sized amount for the face or a larger dollop for arms and legs. Warm it briefly between the fingertips and press it over slightly damp skin after toner and serum. It absorbs quickly, so makeup or sunscreen can follow within a minute. For an overnight boost, apply a thicker layer as the final step before bed. Keep the lid tightly closed, store the tub away from heat and sunlight, and finish it within about a year of opening.

Value Assessment

A stable US price could not be verified, as export retailers list the 500 g tub at widely different prices. At the lower end, the cost per gram is very low for a humectant-rich gel-cream, and a single tub can cover face and body for months. At the higher end, you are paying for convenience and volume rather than a bargain. The formula is more thoughtful than its budget positioning suggests, and there is no hype premium: Eunyul is an established value brand selling practical, oversized basics. Shop around before buying.

Who Should Buy

Normal, combination and oily skin that wants a light, bouncy moisturizer with plenty of humectants, especially households that like one cream for face and body. Dehydrated skin that feels tight but oily will particularly benefit.

Who Should Skip

Anyone with fragrance sensitivity, rosacea or eczema, and people with very dry skin who need richer barrier lipids. Those who dislike jar packaging or are prone to fungal acne should also consider alternatives.

Background

The Story Behind This Product

Eunyul's 'Real' line was designed as a family of everyday, big-format skincare. The Hydrating Cream is its moisture specialist, pitched as a multi-purpose cream for the whole household rather than a precious face product.

About Eunyul Established Brand (5–20 years)

Eunyul has been making low-cost Korean skincare since 2010 and specialises in oversized formats — half-litre cleansers, bulk masks and 'mega size' creams like this one. It relies on well-known humectants and budget pricing rather than published product research.

Myth vs. Reality

Common Myths

Myth

Five types of hyaluronic acid means five times more hydration.

Reality

Different molecular sizes help with surface film versus slightly deeper retention, but most of the hydration comes from the glycerin and other humectants higher in the list.

Myth

A big tub means diluted, lower-quality cream.

Reality

The formula is well stocked with humectants; the large size mainly reflects its multi-purpose, face-and-body positioning.
