Walk the shelf and there are no "glow elixirs" or "miracle drops" here, only digits: No.3, No.5, No.9. The slogan "What's Your Number?" reframes the whole shopping ritual, asking buyers to pick a track that matches a concern instead of decoding marketing poetry, a deliberate rebellion against the perfumed naming conventions of the category.
The people behind that idea are worth knowing. Co-CEOs Lee Il-joo and Kim Dae-young, both Seoul National University graduates, met as colleagues inside Amorepacific, Korea's largest beauty conglomerate, before leaving to build something leaner. That pedigree shows: their pitch was consumer-first legibility, stripping skincare down to an intuitive, mix-and-match system and letting visible results, rather than packaging theater, carry the sale. The numbered system was the design solution to a problem they had watched up close at scale.
The execution paid off faster than almost anyone expected. The flagship No.3 Super Glowing Essence Toner, built around dozens of fermented ingredients and niacinamide, turned the numbering gimmick into actual shelf recognition, and the No.5 tone-correcting line followed. The growth then took an unusual financial shape: the parent firm reportedly reached unicorn-level valuation without issuing new shares, a rarity in Korea's venture scene, and by the mid-2020s more than seventy percent of its revenue came from outside Korea, spanning the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia. With Samsung Securities lined up as underwriter, a public listing on the Korean exchange moved from ambition to active plan.
The substance is genuine: legible, affordable formulas leaning on well-understood actives rather than novelty molecules. The honest caveat is the same one its numbering can't escape, that a digit on a bottle is still a marketing choice, and "visible results" should be read as the reasonable expectation of a good toner, not a clinical promise. For shoppers who want effective Korean skincare without paying for a fancy name, that is a fair bargain.
