The founder's perspective was forged in an operating room, not a lab bench. Across the 1980s and 1990s, Dr. Harry Fallick worked as a plastic surgeon, and reconstructive cases gave him an unsentimental view of what decades of unprotected sun do to skin, alongside a second, subtler problem: how poorly freshly treated skin tolerates ordinary sunscreen after a laser resurfacing, a peel, or a procedure that leaves the surface raw and photosensitized. He also saw skin compromised by drugs and disease needing the same careful protection. That clinical vantage point became the brief.
From that came a deliberately narrow philosophy, baked even into the name: TiZO stands for titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, the only two mineral filters the FDA recognizes, and the line has never reached for anything else. The hard part was making all-mineral protection wearable. The answer was engineering rather than ingredient swapping. Instead of starting with chalky minerals and trying to soften them, the formulas suspend titanium and zinc in a silicone-elastomer matrix, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone crosspolymer, and related silicones, so the product behaves like a primer that disperses the filters, and in tinted versions the iron-oxide pigment, evenly enough to read as a satin tinted moisturizer rather than a white film.
The range grew out of a medical-supply business serving dermatology and plastic-surgery offices, which is why its character is so post-procedure-minded. The non-tinted facial formula was pitched directly at the patient whose face had just been lasered or peeled and needed serious mineral coverage that wouldn't sit greasy on healing skin; the tinted version added cosmetic blur for everyday wear.
The result is a brand that does one thing with unusual conviction. The silicone-forward slip won't suit everyone, and the credibility leans on professional channels rather than head-to-head trials, but for anyone who abandoned mineral sunscreen over the finish, the cosmetic refinement here is the whole achievement, and the clinical pedigree behind it is genuine.
