The salmon came later. The company that makes Rejuran began life as an importer, bringing an Italian pharmaceutical called Placentex into Korea, a drug built on polydeoxyribonucleotide harvested from trout sperm and prescribed not for faces but for spinal discs, frozen shoulder, and tennis elbow. Selling someone else's regenerative molecule taught the firm both the science and the limits of relying on a foreign supplier, and it set up the pivot that defined everything after. The founder happened to come from Gangneung, a coastal region known as one of the country's great salmon-spawning grounds, and the decision to develop a domestic, salmon-derived version of the molecule was as much geographic opportunity as laboratory ambition. The technical payoff was real: salmon DNA shares a base composition close enough to human DNA that the purified fragments provoke minimal foreign-body reaction, making them unusually well tolerated when introduced into living tissue. From that breakthrough the company spun out a whole regenerative catalog, wound-healing products, eye drops, joint injections, before the cosmetic application that made the name famous. The injectable that became its flagship was positioned not as a volumizing filler but as a "healer," microinjected to coax the skin into repairing its own texture and elasticity, and it spread across aesthetic clinics throughout Asia. The consumer creams, serums, and cleansers carry that clinical lineage into the bathroom cabinet, often blended with familiar actives. The candid caveat is unavoidable: the strong evidence sits with the in-clinic procedures, where the molecule is physically delivered into the dermis, while a topical version must contend with the same penetration problem the company's whole founding insight was built to solve. The home range trades, partly, on the clinic's reputation.

More about Rejuran
Rejuran launched in 2013 as a brand of the South Korean biotech firm PharmaResearch, which pioneered the extraction of PDRN/PN (polydeoxyribonucleotide/polynucleotide) tissue-regenerative material from salmon DNA.
Originally known for injectable 'skin booster' treatments used in clinics, its consumer skincare extends that PDRN positioning; the brand benefits from PharmaResearch's pharmaceutical R&D backing, though topical PDRN's at-home efficacy is less established than the injectable clinical procedures the name is built on.
