What Is Eczema?
Eczema is a common skin condition and is associated with hay fever and asthma. It is very common in childhood.
In eczema, an overactive immune system and a problem with the barrier function of the skin limits the skin’s ability to retain water. This often causes skin to become dry, inflamed and itchy. It can occur anywhere on the body with common areas being behind the knees, on the hands and the eyelids. Although It is common in childhood it may periodically flare up in adulthood.
Skin affected by eczema is more susceptible to infection. In the majority of cases, mild-eczema can be easily remedied. See our treatment video for more information.
