What Are Broken Blood Vessels?
When tiny blood vessels under the surface of the skin rupture, they can cause red splotchy marks to appear on the skin. These marks are often very noticeable and typically appear on areas of the face such as the forehead, nose and cheeks.
Chronic sun exposure is considered to be the primary cause of broken blood vessels and people with fair skin tend to be the most commonly affected. The appearance of broken blood vessels or telangiectasia may be an early symptom of rosacea and should be examined by a dermatologist. See our treatment video for more information.
