Treatments for Acne
It’s important to remember that good skin care is essential to preventing breakouts. Be sure to use cleansers and moisturizers for sensitive skin. Oil-free cosmetics will also help prevent oil and dirt from clogging pores.
Acne treatment include over-the-counter products containing active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and alpha-hydroxy acids are helpful in combating infection and reducing inflammation. Certain cases may require the use of prescription medications containing ingredients like antibiotics and retinoids which are vitamin A derivatives. The monster zits can be injected with corticosteroids that make them go away in a day or two.
Facials are not recommended, but when desired should be done by a dermatologist. Trying to pop a zit yourself may result in scarring. For severe cases please consult with a dermatologist.
Prescription orals like antibiotics, birth control pills and isotretinoin help most cases. Medical procedures not using medications such as PDT in PDL which are types of lasers and fractional lasers can also help treat acne.
