What Is Acne?
Acne is a common skin condition that happens when excess oil is produced in the skin and clogs the pores.
If this condition is left untreated an overgrowth of bacteria may occur, leading to infection and inflammation. Secondary to the skin will often develop into red painful eruptions commonly known as zits or pimples. Typically acne appears on the face, but can also be found on the chest and back.
One of the main causes of acne is a spike in testosterone levels during puberty. In the majority of cases acne can be easily remedied with over-the-counter products. If these fail, a dermatologist can help. See our treatment video for more information.
