Are moisturizers important for people with oily skin?

People with oily skin produce more than normal sebum or skin oil, which helps the skin retain the necessary moisture, so they have less need for a moisturizer. It’s important to know, however, that moisture levels differ significantly depending on the area of the body. Humidity and temperature also play an influencing role in skin moisture. Moisturizers should be used in areas that are dry, to protect the skin properly.

What do dermatologists look for in recommending moisturizers for people with Oily Skin & Acne?

During the summer months, moisturizers are generally not necessary for people with oily or very oily skin as their abundant natural oil keeps their skin hydrated. For the winter months, or to manage specific dry spots, a light moisturizer can be used. Non-comedogenic products or products designed for people with oily skin can reduce the chances that it will cause acne.
