Say the digits aloud in Korean and a pun emerges: "1004" sounds like cheonsa, the word for angel. The whole identity flows from that wordplay, a guardian promise stitched to a single soothing plant, which is an unusually disciplined bet for a brand to make in a category that prizes ever-longer ingredient decks.
The origin is humbler than the global fame suggests. The operating company began life around 2014 not as a maker but as a cosmetics distributor, learning the market from the retail side before launching a brand of its own. That distributor's-eye view shaped the strategy: rather than chase a dozen hero molecules, the line tied itself to Centella asiatica sourced specifically from Madagascar, arguing that the island's isolation, rainfall, and soil yield an unusually potent extract, and committing to managed, scheduled harvesting, an unusually deliberate supply chain for a cosmetic ingredient.
Fame arrived through two very different doors. One was slow and loyal: the centella range earned repeat-purchase devotion among reactive, easily-flushed skin, anchored by an almost defiantly minimal ampoule that is mostly extract with a tiny supporting cast. The other was loud and strange. A two-part albumin peel-off mask, marketed as the Zombie Pack and built around propolis and egg white, tightens dramatically and lifts off in a single sheet, becoming a fixture of skincare videos and pulling in millions of newcomers who had never heard of centella at all. The contrast, quiet credibility plus a viral spectacle, is the engine of its reach.
The newest chapter is consolidation. The brand was folded into a fast-growing Korean beauty house pursuing an aggressive, portfolio-style roll-up of K-beauty labels, the same group behind several other breakout names. The substance is real: centella is well-supported as a calmer, the sourcing discipline is more than theater, and the minimalism is a genuine antidote to overloaded routines, even if soothing is not the same as curing.

More about SKIN1004
Created in 2016 by Korea's Craver Corporation (formerly B2link); a centella-focused K-beauty brand sourcing its hero Centella asiatica from Madagascar.
Since 2024 its operator has been controlled by Goodai Global; 'clean/natural' framing is positioning rather than a regulated safety claim, and the soothing effect is calming rather than curative.
