Miconazole (Desenex®; Femizol-M®; Fungoid® Cream; Lotrimin® AF; Micatin®; Monistat®; Ting®; Zeasorb®-AF) is a prescription anti-fungal medication that belongs to the Azole class of drugs. It works by weakening the membrane of fungal cells, which kills the fungus. Miconazole is available as a powder, cream, liquid and lotion. If your doctor has prescribed miconazole it is important that you use it exactly as directed. Severe allergic reactions to miconazole can occur, and if they do you should seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction include: rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; severe or persistent burning or irritation.
