Isoconazole nitrate 1% cream (Travogen) is a prescription antibacterial and antifungal medication related to ketoconazole and oxiconazole. Isoconazole is active against dermatophyte and fungi, and works to either kill or prevent their growth. Dermatophyte is a term given to three types of fungus, Microsporum, Epidermophyton and Trichophyton, which cause skin infections in people.

Isoconazole nitrate is also active against some gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, micrococcus and streptococcus.

The cream is applied topically to the infected area. Possible side effects include itching burning, redness, dry or flaky skin and tingling. Serious side effects include pain, swelling, open sores and rash: if you experience any of these symptoms you should contact your physician immediately.
