Ibuprofen (Advil, Midol, Motrin), is available over-the-counter and by prescription over 20 different branded products. It is referred to as an “analgesic” which means a drug or medicine that reduces pain without making the person taking it unconscious. Ibuprofen is also referred to as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and is used to treat a wide variety of conditions involving pain, tenderness, swelling and stiffness.
