Curcumin is found in the rhizome (spreading root) of the turmeric plant and is what gives turmeric its yellow color. (Turmeric is found in India, Asia and Africa.) Turmeric is one of nature’s anti-inflammatory ingredients that is traditionally used on a number of skin conditions, including eczema, and chronic skin wounds. Researchers agree that it while it may have anti-inflammatory properties, most of the evidence to date is inconclusive. There are some skin creams on the market that include curcumin, but skin could end up with a yellowish tint to it, without some counter-balancing whitening or lightening agent.
