Green tea has been getting a lot of great publicity lately, but black tea also does a body good. Black tea also exhibits skin repair properties due to its antioxidant properties and astringent behaviour. It’s a low-cost, easily accessible ingredient that can relieve puffy eyes, clear up acne, cleanse skin, soothe sunburns, relieve bug bites, moisturize lips, highlight your hair and deodorize feet. Perhaps one of the more interesting uses for black tea is that it could provide protection against UV-B rays – the type of sun exposure that causes skin to burn. It does not provide protection against UV-A rays, which means it can’t really be relied on by itself as a full sunscreen, but with the increasing trend away from chemical protectants and towards natural ingredients, look for black-tea in your sunscreen soon.
